Simulation of Acoustic Fields from Medical Ultrasound Transducers of Arbitrary Shape

چکیده
In the impulse response method the Rayleigh integral is converted from a 2-dimensional to a 1-dimensional integral [1]. This assumes that the diffraction impulse response has been derived for the transducer shape used. In the described simulator, this method is not used. One of the reasons is that it is desirable to be quickly able to analyze new transducer shapes. This could also be done using the impulse response method by subdividing the radiating plane into smaller basic subtransducers with a known diffraction impulse response [4]. However it is also desirable to be able to analyze the field in an inhomoge-

Acoustic Field Comparison of High Intensity Focused Ultrasound Using Experimental Characterization and Finite Element Simulation
Introduction: High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is a technique currently used for different medical treatments such as thermal ablation, hyperthermia, and bleeding control [1]. This kind of technique is based on the use of an acoustic transducer with a concave face used to focus the ultrasound energy in a specific zone (Figure 1). The acoustic field characterization in transducers is imp...
متن کاملBlood Brain Barrier Disruption by Focused Ultrasound and Microbubbles: A Numerical Study on Mechanical Effects
Introduction: Microbubbles are widely used as contrast agent in diagnostic ultrasound. Recently they have shown good potential for applications in the therapeutic field such as drug delivery to the brain. Recent studies have shown focused ultrasound in conjunction with injected micro-bubbles could temporarily disrupt blood-brain barrier and let therapeutic agents transport into...
متن کاملEvaluating the Effects of Dual Frequency Sonication Parameters on Acoustic Cavitation by Chemical Dosimeter Using Iodide
Background and Aims: Production of acoustic cavitation by sonication has been recently recommended as a targeted treatment. The experimental results from studies indicate that the activity of cavitation generated by bi- or multi-frequency ultrasound irradiation is higher than that caused by single frequency irradiation. In this study, effects dual (1 MHz and 40 kHz) and single frequency soni...
متن کاملUltrasim - a toolbox for ultrasound field simulation
Ultrasim is an interactive, menu-oriented simulator for finding the sound field from transducers. It is a tool for design of transducer arrays and transducer geometry, and will increase the user’s understanding of acoustic wave propagation. The simulator has primarily been developed for medical ultrasound, but has also been used for sonar analysis and non-destructive testing. The simulator has ...
